PA-Y11 Amp PD USB-C Wall Charger
by AUKEY
Get Both USB Power Delivery 2.0 and Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 with the AUKEY PA-Y11 Amp PD USB-C Wall Charger
Charging peripherals have always been a key product of Aukey and with the advent of various fast charge combo in a single charger, it's not surprising Aukey has its own similar charger as well. Adding to Aukey’s repertoire of wall chargers is the PA-Y11 Amp PD USB-C Wall Charger supporting both USB Power Delivery 2.0 and Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 based charging.
Rather than promoting Aukey’s own branded AiPower charging seen on earlier products such as the AUKEY PA-Y7 USB Type-C Wall Charger and AUKEY PA-T8 10-Port USB Charging Station, the AUKEY PA-Y11 Amp PD USB-C Wall Charger comes without any proprietary charging technology. While other chargers like the iVoler 75W USB Type C Charger with Power Delivery support USB Type-C based USB Power Delivery but only legacy charging over USB Type-A, the Aukey PA-Y11 charger conveniently enables Qualcomm Quick Charge charging from its USB Type-A port allowing you to charge multiple devices quickly and in parallel.
The AUKEY PA-Y11 Amp PD USB-C Wall Charger combines both USB Type-C and Type-A outputs into a single compact charger to offer up to 48 watts of charging. By each supporting 30 watts over USB Type-C and 18 watts over USB Type-A, you can charge your USB Type-C phone or tablet fast at 9-12 volts while being able to also power your laptop PC at 15-20 volts.
The AUKEY PA-Y11 Amp PD USB-C Wall Charger that we purchased arrived in typical Aukey packaging and in mint condition.
Like most wall chargers, the AUKEY PA-Y11 Amp PD USB-C Wall Charger has two standard foldable prongs to plug into a ac wall outlet for charging.
The single USB Type-C port on the AUKEY PA-Y11 Amp PD USB-C Wall Charger supports 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 27 watts (9 volts @ 3 amps), 30 watts (12 volts @ 2.5 amps), 30 watts (15 volts @ 2 amps), and 30 watts (20 volts @ 1.5 amps) of charging using USB Power Delivery 2.0.
The USB Type-A port makes use of Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 to supply 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 18 watts (9 volts @ 2 amps), and 18 watts (12 volts @ 1.5 amps).
It's fastest to charge your USB Power Delivery capable devices like the Microsoft Surface Book 2 and Apple 13" MacBook Pro with Touch Bar (Late 2016) directly using a USB Type-C to Type-C cable. You can also use a USB Type-C to Type-A cable if you want to charge non USB Power Delivery capable devices like the Huawei P9 phone or a USB Type-A to Micro-B cable for Qualcomm Quick Charge enabled mobiles like the Moto G4 Plus.
Using the USB Power Test App from Granite River Labs with the Granite River Labs USB Power Delivery Compliance C2 Tester, we generate the following test results for the AUKEY PA-Y11 Amp PD USB-C Wall Charger.
The USB Power Test App first negotiates a power contract for every PDO supported by the Aukey charger, and increases the load gradually to find the threshold where over current protection (OCP) kicks in and voltage and current start to drop for safety reasons.
The USB Power Test App reports out all the PDO's supported by the Aukey charger and their OCP thresholds. OCP thresholds for the charger are set at about 20-24% above the maximum current levels for the fixed PDO's.
PDO | OCP (A) |
---|---|
PDO#1 Fixed: 5V 3A | 3.71 |
PDO#2 Fixed: 9V 3A | 3.72 |
PDO#3 Fixed: 12V 2.5A | 2.84 |
PDO#4 Fixed: 15V 2A | 2.33 |
PDO#5 Fixed: 20V 1.5A | 1.81 |
The USB Power Test App from Granite River Labs also produces an I-V curve which graphically shows the relationship between voltage and current for each PDO. Except for the 1st and 2nd PDO's, we can observe current fold-back behavior for the other PDO's where as the current increases beyond the OCP threshold, the voltage starts to curve down rather than immediately shutting off. The 1st and 2nd PDO's show the voltage immediately shuts off when crossing the OCP threshold.
Since the AUKEY PA-Y11 Amp PD USB-C Wall Charger is a multi port charger, the USB Power Test App can be used to determine whether each output port of the charger is able to supply power independently. For every PDO supported by the Aukey charger, the USB Power Test App increases the load gradually for both the USB Type-C and Type-A ports to detect any power loss at the highest load limit for each port.

The USB Power Test App reports out the voltage, current and load limits for all the PDO's supported by the Aukey charger for each port.

The USB Power Test App can also use the Granite River Labs USB Power Delivery Compliance C2 Tester integrated with the GW Instek APS-7100 programmable AC power supply to compare the charger's power output vs power input so that power efficiency can be measured and compared to regulatory limits from United States of Energy (DOE) Level VI or European Union's CoC Tier 2 requirements. We can repeat the power efficiency tests for different PDO's, current load conditions, and different AC input ranges, allowing us to get a complete picture of power efficiency ranges across all different usage scenarios.
We also used the USB Power Delivery Compliance C2 Tester from Granite River Labs to run just a subset of the full USB Power Delivery compliance test suite for the AUKEY PA-Y11 Amp PD USB-C Wall Charger with results shown below.
