Trying to quickly move a lot of videos, images, or audio files to and from your LG Google Nexus 5X? The Kingston DataTraveler microDuo 3C is a good solution since you can can plug this drive into the USB Type-C interface on the Nexus 5X, and transfer data in and out quickly.
With USB Type-C, the connector is reversible so it doesn't matter which orientation you insert the Kingston DataTraveler microDuo 3C's Type-C connector into the LG Google Nexus 5X.
After you insert the Kingston DataTraveler microDuo 3C into the LG Google Nexus 5X, the Android operating system will pop up a notification saying that the Kingston USB drive has been inserted. If you select 'EXPLORE', you can see all the folders on the Kingston drive. Here, I am selecting a movie to copy into the Nexus 5X.
Hold down the file you want to copy in order to select it. Then select the three vertical dots and then select 'Copy to...'. A 'Save to' window will pop up on the left side with all the Google Drive, Nexus 5X internal storage, and USB drive folders available that you can copy the file into.
Unfortunately, Android Marshmallow does not have a move option so if you want to move a file, you will need to copy it and then delete the original later.
After choosing 'Internal storage' I was able to choose the Movies folder and select 'Copy' on the bottom of the screen. The 98 MB file copied very quickly.
If you want to remove the Kingston DataTraveler microDuo 3C drive from the LG Google Nexus 5X, go back to notifications and select 'EJECT'. Once ejected, you won't see the drive anymore in the notifications.
Using the Kingston DataTraveler microDuo 3C with the LG Google Nexus 5X is relatively painless although a 'move file' function would be much appreciated in Android Marshmallow's Explore App. Occasionally I have seen the 'internal storage' and usb drive not show up in the 'Save to' window but that problem went away after a while.
