The Nintendo Switch Console Can’t Quick Charge Over Samsung’s Adaptive Fast Charging with the Samsung 25W USB-C Fast Charging Wall Charger

To see what happens when the USB Power Delivery based Nintendo Switch Console gets power supplied by a Samsung Adaptive Fast charger, we connect the Switch Console to the USB Type-A port of the Samsung 25W USB-C Fast Charging Wall Charger that supports Samsung’s proprietary quick charging scheme.

The Nintendo Switch Console’s battery is completely drained when plugged in to the Samsung 25W USB-C Fast Charging Wall Charger that claims to support 25 watts (12 volts @ 2.1 amps), 15 watts (9 volts @ 1.67 amps) and 10 watts (5 volts @ 2 amps) charging profiles.

When observed through the Granite River Labs GRL-USB-PD-A1 test software, the Samsung charger looks to deliver a steady state charging of around 2.5 watts (5 volts @ 0.5 amps) to the Nintendo Switch Console starting from 0% battery charge and during power off on the Switch.

This low charging power results in the Switch Console being able to snail charge with the Samsung 25W USB-C Fast Charging Wall Charger at just 2.5 watts, which is much less power than the >15 watts that the Nintendo Switch Console pulls from its own Nintendo Switch AC Adapter  as seen in this review. With this low wattage, it will take a longer time for the Switch Console to charge.
