Mi 6

by Xiaomi

The iVoler 75W USB Type C Charger with Power Delivery uses USB Power Delivery to charge many different mobile devices which can come in handy when your phone's original charger is not available. In this case we see how well the iVoler charger provides power to the Mi 6, Xiaomi's first USB Power Delivery capable phone. Besides USB Power Delivery, the Mi 6 also comes enabled with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 over USB Type-C, to indicate that the phone may be supporting Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ technology.

To find out if the iVoler charger is working correctly with the Xiaomi phone, we direct connect both devices using a USB Type-C to Type-C cable and observe the USB Power Delivery communications using the GRL-USB-PD-A1 test software by Granite River Labs. The iVoler 75W USB Type C Charger first declares over USB Power Delivery to repeatedly offer 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 27 watts (9 volts @ 3 amps), and 45 watts (15 volts @ 3 amps) to the 2% charged Mi 6.

The Mi 6 then begins to request an initial 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps) from the iVoler charger and gets accepted.

We also observe the Mi 6 goes on to establish 27 watts (9 volts @ 3 amps) of charging once completed Discover Identity with the iVoler charger.

We can confirm that the iVoler 75W USB Type C Charger actually delivers around 15.1 watts (8.9 volts @ 1.7 amps) to charge the Mi 6 from a 2% battery level.

The phone is already on when it begins to pull current of about 3 amps over 5 volts after the first 10 seconds of initial plugin. As 27 watts is requested, the current suddenly drops to below 0.5 amps while the voltage goes up to around 8.9 volts. While the phone is being used, it pulls lower current that  bounces between 1.8-1.6 amps to draw an average charging power of around 15.1 watts (8.9 volts @ 1.7 amps).

The iVoler 75W USB Type C Charger offers a decent power option for the Mi 6 just in case it's missing the Xiaomi charger and needs a quick charge.
