The LG G6 uses both USB Power Delivery and Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 to achieve fast charging over its USB Type-C connector.

The charger that comes with the LG G6 supports 16.2 watts (9 volts @ 1.8 amps) and 9 watts (5 volts @ 1.8 amps) and has a USB Type-A port.

When we connect the charger to the LG G6 using a USB Type-A to Type-C cable, we can see there are no USB Power Delivery transactions.

However, we observe that in the first 30 seconds, the charging voltage starts at 5 volts before jumping up to 9 volts, while the current jumps around before settling at 1.7 amps (this delivering 15.3 watts).

In the first 60 minutes of charging, the voltage stays at 9 volts while the current steps several times down to 1.3 amps.

Overall, it takes about 1 hour and 37 minutes to fully charge the LG G6 from empty to 100% full.

LG claims support of Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 on the LG G6 so this rapid charging must be achieved using Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 since we observe no USB Power Delivery transactions.

You can also use Qi based wireless charging with the LG G6 as seen in this review, but it will be much slower than wired Qualcomm Quick Charge or USB Power Delivery based charging.
