In an earlier review we saw the Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 based Tronsmart Presto fail to charge the ZTE ZMAX Pro with any reasonable speed. Wondering if this was a problem with the ZTE's compatibility with Qualcomm Quick Charge based technology, we tried charging the phone with a Quick Charge 2.0 charger from LeEco's 1S with good success.
Upon plugging the LeEco charger in, we observed that the charger provided 5 volts @ 2 amps (10 watts) to the ZTE ZMAX Pro which was much better than what we saw with the Tronsmart Presto.
The Presto had charged about 75% in 5 hours. Since the LE charger gives 10 watts in comparison to the Presto's 1-3 Watts, we should expect the LE charger to be at least 3 times faster.
Starting from 1%, the ZTE ZMAX Pro immediately stared to quickly charge and gained 34% charge in 5 minutes. After a little over an hour, the charger had charged the ZTE ZMAX Pro to 68%.
As with most batteries, the charging rate slows down as the charge in the battery approaches the battery's capacity. After 1.5 hours, the battery reached 88% and took over half an hour to charger another 10%. A total of a little over two hours was spent to charge this device, which is consistent with the charge time we saw from the adapter included with the ZTE ZMAX Pro.
