The Sony MDR-XB950BT Extra Bass Bluetooth Headphones uses Bluetooth 3.0 but can still work with Bluetooth 4.2 devices like to the Apple 9.7-inch iPad Pro.

To start the pairing process on the Sony MDR-XB950BT Extra Bass Bluetooth Headphones, just hold down the power button on the left ear piece until you start seeing the LED start flashing.

In the Apple 9.7-inch iPad Pro's Bluetooth setup screen, it's easy to pair the Sony MDR-XB950BT Extra Bass Bluetooth Headphones.  Just press the 'MDR-XB950BT' when you see it appear to start pairing with the headphones.

Once connected, you can use the Sony MDR-XB950BT Extra Bass Bluetooth Headphones to listen to Apps like iTunes and GarageBand.  Note that since there is some delay with the compression and transmission of audio over Bluetooth, there is some delay if you are trying to use the Sony MDR-XB950BT Extra Bass Bluetooth Headphones to monitor your recordings.

Note you can't select to use the Sony MDR-XB950BT Extra Bass Bluetooth Headphones's microphone as an audio input into GarageBand.

The Sony MDR-XB950BT Extra Bass Bluetooth Headphones's play/pause and forward/reverse buttons works well when controlling music on the Apple 9.7-inch iPad Pro.  However, the volume buttons on the Sony MDR-XB950BT Extra Bass Bluetooth Headphones only seem to control the sound on the headphones themselves as opposed to changing the volume of the iPad.

The Sony MDR-XB950BT Extra Bass Bluetooth Headphones works well with the Apple 9.7-inch iPad Pro but note that it only supports 10 meters range due to Bluetooth Class 2 Power support.
