iPhone X Can't Charge Wirelessly with Belkin Boost Up Wireless Charger if Not Placed Exactly Right on the Charging Pad

The Apple iPhone X adopts Qi wireless charging but only up to 7.5W rather than the Qi Medium Power (15W) standard. Fortunately, the iPhone X can still be wirelessly charged using a higher output based charger like the Belkin Boost Up 15-Watt Qi Compatible Wireless Charging Pad & Charger  which carries the max 15W output.

However when charging the iPhone X with the Belkin Boost Up 15-Watt Qi Compatible Wireless Charging Pad & Charger, we noticed that the iPhone would not charge on certain areas of the Belkin charging pad. When it did charge, the green LED charging indicator would come on. In between, the user needs to keep adjusting the iPhone's position on the charging pad until it can be properly detected by the Belkin charger.

As we shifted the iPhone X more towards the right of the Belkin Boost Up 15-Watt Qi Compatible Wireless Charging Pad & Charger, the phone eventually started charging when exactly centered on the charger.

If the iPhone X was left-right centered but then moved slightly up on the Belkin Boost Up 15-Watt Qi Compatible Wireless Charging Pad & Charger, we lost the charging link again.

The loss of charging happened again if the phone was moved down on the charger.

Apple has been aggressively promoting its adoption of Qi wireless technology on the iPhone X and iPhone 8. While convenient, Qi is a lot more sensitive to the phone's exact placement on the charger which is something you don't have to worry about when using the Lightning connector for charging. While the 7.5W Qi charging speed is a little faster than the standard 5W charger shipped with every iPhone, it is still slower than 18W USB Power Delivery based charging that the iPhone X can take advantage of as seen in this review.
