The Xiaomi MiBook Charger is made for the Mi Notebook Air 13.3" but can provide alternative charging if the Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 charger that came with the HTC 10 phone isn't available. Here we look at the USB Power Delivery negotiations to see how well the Xiaomi MiBook Charger  powers the HTC 10 from 0% battery.

When directly connected with a USB Type-C to Type-C cable, the charger can be seen to constantly advertise its power capabilities of 10 watts (5 volts @ 2 amps).

The HTC 10 finally requests to pull 10 watts (5 volts @ 2 amps) after a hard reset which is then accepted by the Xiaomi MiBook Charger.

The Xiaomi MiBook Charger is observed later on to offer not only 10 watts (5 volts @ 2 amps) it initially advertised but also additional power profiles of 18 watts (9 volts @ 2 amps), 24 watts (12 volts @ 2 amps), 45 watts (15 volts @ 3 amps), and 65 watts (20 volts @ 3.25 amps).

We also notice that a hard reset would occur each time the charger displays its full power profiles, which it would then go on to declare only a single 10 watts (5 volts @ 2 amps) power profile. The HTC 10 would also follow up to establish 10 watts (5 volts @ 2 amps) power contract with the charger. This same behavior can be seen to keep on repeating in between hard resets.

We also observe at one time when a hard reset doesn't happen after the Xiaomi MiBook Charger displays its full power profiles of 10 watts (5 volts @ 2 amps), 18 watts (9 volts @ 2 amps), 24 watts (12 volts @ 2 amps), 45 watts (15 volts @ 3 amps), and 65 watts (20 volts @ 3.25 amps). The HTC 10  is then seen to follow up by pulling 10 watts (5 volts @ 2 amps) from the charger.

When the HTC 10 is being charged on a fully drained battery, the phone starts pulling only 2.5 watts (5 volts @ 0.5 amps) in the first 8 seconds but then stops charging. It takes almost another 10 seconds for charging to resume at 10 watts (5 volts @ 2 amps) but quickly drops down to 2.5 watts (5 volts @ 0.5 amps). With never a stable power level, we can say that charging doesn't really happen between the HTC 10 and Xiaomi MiBook Charger.
