Dell has recently launched the XPS 13 9370 laptop that provides dual Thunderbolt 3 enabled USB Type-C connectors, allowing external docks like the USB Power Delivery 2.0 based Henge Docks Stone to be connected to rapidly charge the laptop. Let's see how well the Stone supplies power over USB Power Delivery when plugged in to a Thunderbolt 3 port on the XPS 13 9370.

When the XPS 13 9370 is 27% charged, we connected the laptop to the USB Power Delivery enabled USB Type-C port at the side of the Stone which offers up to 87W charging. We could see that the XPS 13 9370 pulled up to about 46 watts from the Stone to successfully achieve a power level similar to using the Dell's supplied charger.

Click here to download the trace captured by the GRL-A1 power analyzer to see more details on how the Stone charges the XPS 13 9370 at 27% battery charge using USB Power Delivery.
