By connecting an external charger like the BatPower PD6's AC Adapter to the Nintendo Switch Console, we'll see how well the Switch Console charges using USB Power Delivery from 13% battery.

The BatPower PD6's AC Adapter is attached with the BatPower round to rectangle connector adapter which links to the BatPower USB Type-C Adapter and then to the Nintendo Switch Console using a USB Type-C to Type-C cable. The Console has been turned on with gameplay actively running while simultaneously using both the left and right Joy-Con controllers being attached to the Console.

The BatPower PD6's AC Adapter starts communicating over USB Power Delivery with the Nintendo Switch Console by advertising its source capabilities of 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 27 watts (9 volts @ 3 amps), 36 watts (12 volts @ 3 amps), 45 watts (15 volts @ 3 amps) and 60 watts (20 volts @ 3 amps). We can see that the BatPower adapter only supports up to 60W and not 90W on its product specifications.

The Nintendo Switch Console proceeds to request 7.5 watts (15 volts @ 0.5 amps) from the BatPower PD6's AC Adapter.

After the BatPower adapter provides the 7.5W, the Switch Console follows up to establish the full 45 watts (15 volts @ 3 amps) PDO power contract with the adapter allowing it to charge faster.

When the BatPower PD6's AC Adapter is first connected to the Nintendo Switch Console while already turned on with Joy-Con controllers attached and a game cartridge being played, the Console at 13% battery starts off pulling current resulting in a 7.8 to 18.6 watts power band. The power pulled later increases to the 15.5 to 21.7 watts band as the Console consumes more power used to support both the Joy-Con controllers and active gameplay. 

Even though we did not observe 3 amps charging as negotiated, the BatPower PD6's AC Adapter can be used to charge the Nintendo Switch Console over USB Power Delivery which performs similarly to the Nintendo Switch AC Adapter as seen in this review.
