The AUKEY PA-Y7 USB Type-C Wall Charger enables fast charging using USB Power Delivery technology over its USB Type-C port up to 29W. Let's see how this third party charger powers the USB Power Delivery enabled Google Pixel phone with its battery at 90% full.

The USB Power Delivery negotiations initially show that the AUKEY PA-Y7 USB Type-C Wall Charger constantly declares its source capabilities of 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 27 watts (9 volts @ 3 amps), and 29 watts (14.5 volts @ 2 amps).

After a hard reset is done, the Google Pixel does requests power but not one of the PDO's supported by the charger, which is then rejected.

The Google Pixel finally requests to pull 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps) after multiple hard resets, which is accepted by the charger.

While the Google Pixel is being charged at a battery of 90% full, we can see that the current charges to around 3 amps at 5 volts in the first 20 seconds. As the phone's battery gets closer to being full, the current drops down 60 seconds later to settle at 1.5 amps.

The AUKEY PA-Y7 USB Type-C Wall Charger is able to charge the Google Pixel but the entire USB Power Delivery negotiation is far from being clean.
