Third party chargers like the Targus 45W USB Type-C Laptop AC Wall Charger (click here for Amazon pricing) will definitely come in handy if you happen to lose the USB Type-C charger that came with the LG Google Nexus 5X.

The USB Type-C port of the Targus 45W USB Type-C Laptop AC Wall Charger promises to deliver 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 36 watts (12 volts @ 3amps), 37.5 watts (15 volts @ 2.5 amps), and 45 watts (20 volts @ 2.25 amps). Let's observe how the charger supplies power to the LG Google Nexus 5X that doesn't support USB Power Delivery.

Here we can see the phone only pulls 7.5 watts (5 volts @ 1.5 amps) from the charger when the phone's battery is fully depleted.

For some reason the LG Google Nexus 5X wasn't able to pull close to 15 watts that is possible over the USB Type-C connector without active USB Power Delivery negotiation. However, using the Targus 45W USB Type-C Laptop AC Wall Charger's USB Type-C interface still makes it convenient to charge the phone when needed.
