The portable Ventev Wallport pd1300 Wall Charger can be used to charge most USB Type-C devices supporting USB Power Delivery including the 13" MacBook Pro (Late 2016). Here we determine how this external charger supplies power to the Mac using USB Power Delivery.
The Ventev Wallport pd1300 Wall Charger kicks off USB Power Delivery negotiations with the 13" MacBook Pro (Late 2016) by showing off its power profiles of 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 27 watts (9 volts @ 3 amps), 45 watts (15 volts @ 3 amps), and 45 watts (20 volts @ 2.25 amps).
The Mac then calls 45 watts (20 volts @ 2.25 amps) of charging power which the charger accepts.
With the Mac's battery being well charged, charging is observed to go through some power stepping in the early stage before settling at 10 watts (20 volts @ 0.5 amps).
We can confirm that the 13" MacBook Pro (Late 2016) can be sufficiently powered using an external charging source like the Ventev Wallport pd1300 Wall Charger, however it still works best with its own Apple 61W USB-C Power Adapter which provides more power.
