The Samsung Galaxy S8 phone can be charged wirelessly using Samsung's Fast Charge Wireless technology up to 7.5 watts. It conveniently supports Samsung's own 7.5W based Fast Charge Wireless Charging Stand which we can quickly find out how well they perform here using the Granite River Labs GRL-USB-PD-A1 analyzer software.
The Samsung Fast Charge Wireless Charging Stand comes with a 15W based Samsung Adaptive Fast Charging (AFC) Charger which we connect to an AC outlet after plugging in the wireless charging stand. Upon placing the Samsung Galaxy S8 on the wireless charging stand, we can see the phone starts off pulling current to around 0.4 amps at 5 volts in the first 10 seconds while switched off on a fully depleted battery. As the phone boots up, it consumes higher power to eventually charge at around 6.5 watts (5 volts @ 1.3 amps).
The Samsung Galaxy S8 works expectedly well with the Samsung Fast Charge Wireless Charging Stand but still charges faster using its own 15 watts based Samsung Adaptive Fast Charging Charger (click here to see more).
