To find out how the USB Power Delivery based Nintendo Switch Console tops up power with a Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 charger like the Ventev Wallport rq2300 Wall Charger, we connect the Switch Console to the USB Type-A port of the Ventev charger that supports Qualcomm Quick Charge. Having both Joy-Con controllers attached to either side while turned on and playing a game cartridge, the Nintendo Switch Console is seen to pull only 5 volts @ 1.5 amps from 1% battery charge.
This low charging power results in the Switch Console being able to charge with the Ventev Wallport rq2300 Wall Charger at 7.5 watts, which is much less power than the >15 watts that the Nintendo Switch Console pulls from its own Nintendo Switch AC Adapter as seen in this review. With this low wattage, it will take a longer time for the Switch Console to charge.
