The LG UltraFine 5K Display is the heir apparent to the Apple's previous line of Thunderbolt and DisplayPort monitors.  Not surprisingly, it works seamlessly with the Apple 15" MacBook Pro (Late 2016) over Thunderbolt 3.

After connecting the LG UltraFine 5K Display to the Apple 15" MacBook Pro (Late 2016) using the Thunderbolt 3 cable supplied with the display, we can see from the Mac's System Information that the LG UltraFine 5K Display shows up in the Thunderbolt Device Tree (as opposed to a traditional DisplayPort or HDMI monitor).

Under the Mac's System Information Graphics/Displays section, we can see that the LG UltraFine 5K Display shows up as connected with the AMD Radeon Pro 450 GPU in the Apple 15" MacBook Pro (Late 2016).  We can confirm that the LG UltraFine 5K Display supports 5K (5120 X 2880) resolution on this Mac.

Interestingly, the Mac OS X did not show display refresh rates for Thunderbolt monitors so we used Blur Busters Motion Tests to confirm the 5K resolution was operating at 60 fps frame rate and 60 Hz refresh rate.

The LG UltraFine 5K Display also supports three USB 3.1 Gen 1 (5 Gb/s) downstream USB Type-C ports.   We can also see that the LG UltraFine 5K Display uses USB to support the display's built-in camera and display/audio controls.

The world's first Thunderbolt 3 monitor, the LG UltraFine 5K Display, looks and works great with the Apple 15" MacBook Pro (Late 2016) giving you 5K resolution, USB 3.1 Gen 1 port expansion, and USB Power Delivery based charging.
