The PowerGear USB-C 45 by Innergie is a convenient AC power adapter to bring on your travels which can be used to charge most USB Type-C devices supporting USB Power Delivery like the ZTE Nubia Z17 phone.

To see what goes on when the Innergie PowerGear USB-C 45 charges the Nubia Z17, we capture the USB Power Delivery Protocol transactions when the phone's battery is 2% charged.

The Innergie charger repeatedly claims to support 4 different power profiles: 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 36 watts (12 volts @ 3 amps), 45 watts (15 volts @ 3 amps) and 45 watts (20 volts @ 2.25 amps) over the USB Type-C connector.

The Nubia Z17 can be seen to request an initial 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps) of charging from the Innergie charger which it accepts.

The Nubia Z17 later requests and establishes 36 watts (12 volts @ 3 amps) power contract with the charger allowing it to charge much faster.

We can also see that the Nubia Z17 pulls an actual current of around 2.3 amps @5 volts in the first 40 seconds from 2% battery.

After 40 seconds, the phone finally draws 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps) from the charger.

After another 10 seconds, the voltage level goes up to 12 volts but the phone only pulls 0.5 amps current from the charger. The current later increases slightly to 1 amps to charge at 12 watts (12 volts @ 1 amps).

The Innergie PowerGear USB-C 45 is still able to charge the Nubia Z17 over USB Power Delivery.
