In case you are wondering if you can use a third party charger like the USB Power Delivery based Dell 30-Watt AC Adapter with 3 ft Power Cord - USB Type-C to charge your Google Pixel phone, we will see how they perform here.

The Dell 30-Watt AC Adapter with 3 ft Power Cord - USB Type-C starts communicating with the Google Pixel over USB Power Delivery by constantly showing that it supports 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 24 watts (12 volts @ 2 amps), and 30 watts (20 volts @ 1.5 amps) power profiles.

After some time, no USB Power Delivery activity seems to take place between the charger and the Google Pixel, with the phone also not requesting any power from the charger. While the Google Pixel is being charged with its battery fully drained, the current is observed to drop to zero after the first 10 seconds.

Since we are not able to get the Dell 30-Watt AC Adapter with 3 ft Power Cord - USB Type-C to charge the Google Pixel the first time over USB Power Delivery, we reconnected the two devices to see if there would be any change in behavior.

We again observe initially the same constant advertising of 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 24 watts (12 volts @ 2 amps), and 30 watts (20 volts @ 1.5 amps) from the charger but after a hard reset, the Google Pixel does requests power but not one of the PDO's supported by the charger, which is then rejected.

Even though a successful USB Power Delivery contract was not established, the Google Pixel still pulls current from the Dell 30-Watt AC Adapter with 3 ft Power Cord - USB Type-C.  With the phone's battery being fully depleted, we can see that at first 3 amps is pulled before dropping to about 1.5 amps and then steadily goes down to zero as the battery gets fully charged.

The Dell 30-Watt AC Adapter with 3 ft Power Cord - USB Type-C fails to establish a proper USB Power Delivery negotiation with the Google Pixel but sometimes manages to still charge the phone.
