To see if you can quickly charge your LG G5 phone using the portable AUKEY CC-Y7 Car Charger, we'll observe how the AUKEY charger sets up a USB Power Delivery contract with the LG G5 which also supports USB Power Delivery charging.
The AUKEY CC-Y7 Car Charger's USB Type-C port claims to output the following power profiles: 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 22.5 watts (9 volts @ 2.5 amps), and 24 watts (12 volts @ 2 amps). Interestingly, the charger can be seen to negotiate with the LG G5 over USB Power Delivery by constantly displaying 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 27 watts (9 volts @ 3 amps), and 36 watts (12 volts @ 3 amps) power profiles. Note that these profiles don't match the 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 22.5 watts (9 volts and 2.5 amps), and 24 watts (12 volts @ 2 amps) output as given on the charger's casing.
While the charger repeatedly advertises its source capabilities, it also regularly shows a hard reset which is unusual.
The LG G5 after some time finally requests 18 watts (9 volts @ 2 amps) from the charger which it accepts.
On a fully drained battery, the LG G5 starts pulling around 9 watts (5 volts @ 1.8 amps) in the first 10 seconds but stops charging before resuming to charge at about 9.9 watts (9 volts @ 1.1 amps).
We can confirm that the AUKEY CC-Y7 Car Charger can use USB Power Delivery to charge the LG G5 although negotiations are far from being clean.
