The Samsung 25W USB-C Fast Charging Wall Charger conveniently supports charging on different platforms that include Apple based products like the latest Apple iPhone X. Given the iPhone X uses USB Power Delivery for rapid charging, we’re excited to see how it performs over proprietary charging basis with the Samsung 25W charger.

The Samsung 25W USB-C Fast Charging Wall Charger implements Samsung’s own Adaptive Fast Charging technology over the USB Type-A connector to offer 25 watts (12 volts @ 2.1 amps), 15 watts (9 volts @ 1.67 amps), and 10 watts (5 volts @ 2 amps) quick charging profiles.

Once we connect the Samsung charger with the 80% charged Apple iPhone X over a USB Type-A to Lightning cable, we can clearly observe what goes on through the Granite River Labs GRL-USB-PD-A1 analyzer. The iPhone X can be seen to pull initial current of about 1.6 amps starting at 5.2 volts while at power on or in sleep mode. Note that it takes nearly 20 seconds for the iPhone to finally draw power from the Samsung charger at plugin. The current level later bounces slightly over the next 50 seconds which then resumes to stabilize charging at around 8.3 watts (5.2 volts @ 1.6 amps).

It’s good to see that the Samsung 25W USB-C Fast Charging Wall Charger can be used to supply higher power to charge the Apple iPhone X faster than using the 5W charger shipped with the iPhone, despite not supporting the Samsung Adaptive Fast Charging scheme on the iPhone X.
