The Anker PowerCore 13400mAh Nintendo Switch Edition PD Portable Charger was originally made to provide 22.5W based charging for the Nintendo Switch but it can also be used with the USB Type-C enabled Apple 11-inch iPad Pro (2018). We observed how charging happened over USB Power Delivery after connecting the iPad to the Anker power bank using a USB Type-C to Type-C cable.

With a completely drained battery on the Apple 11-inch iPad Pro (2018), the iPad started pulling about 0.5 amps current while at 5.17 volts startup voltage to initially charge at around 2.6 watts (5.17 volts @ 0.5 amps). When reaching the first 10 seconds of charging, the iPad trickle charged for a bit before pulling higher current as the voltage rose up to a 15 volts rail. This enabled the iPad to achieve max charging at around 22.7 watts (15.16 volts @ 1.5 amps) with the Anker power bank. In between charging the current was also seen to reduce slightly to about 1.3 amps in short intervals. To view more details, click here to download the trace captured by the GRL-A1 power analyzer.

The Anker PowerCore 13400mAh Nintendo Switch Edition PD Portable Charger was able to deliver fine charging to the Apple 11-inch iPad Pro (2018) allowing the iPad to charge at higher power than using its own shipped Apple 18 watts based USB-C charger.
