The new OptiPlex PCs will follow Dell's 3000, 5000 and 7000 naming convention found on other families of devices, including Latitude and Inspiron.  The OptiPlex 7040 is the most powerful device, offering enterprise-class manageability, security, and expandability. There is support for dual hard drives, triple displays and discrete graphics in a compact design. OptiPlex 7040 is equipped with a 3.4GHz Intel Core i7-6700 processor, 16GB of RAM, a 256GB M.2 PCI Express solid state drive (SSD), a DVD+/-RW optical drive. Here we are unpacking OptiPlex 7040 PC.

When you unpack, you'll find two small boxes inside.  One contains Power Cable, VGA connector, and a Mouse.   The other box which has a keyboard symbol on it contains a Keyboard.

After taking out this two small boxes at the bottom, you'll find the OptiPlex 7040.

A small, rectangular plate bearing the Dell logo appears near the middle of the front panel, most of which is made up of mesh to allow for adequate airflow. You'll see the system’s optical drive (in our unit, an 8x DVD+/-RW drive). Two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, a combination headphone/microphone audio port, a small LED activity light, and a circular power button that's partially LED-backlit.

In the back you'll see line-output jack, an HDMI 1.4 port and two Display Ports 1.2 (for the system’s integrated video), a legacy serial port, two PS/2 ports (one for keyboard, one for mouse), four USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, and an Ethernet jack for wired connections.
