With smartphone screens getting bigger, Apple also builds a larger display for its newest 10.5-inch iPad Pro which replaces the older 9.7-inch iPad Pro that also adopts the fast charging capabilities of the original 2015 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

The 10.5-inch iPad Pro also offers the same wide color P3 Retina display as the 9.7 inch model that is also supported on the iPhone 7Apple 15" MacBook Pro (Late 2016), and Apple iMac with Retina 4K Display (Late 2015). By comparison, the 10.5-inch iPad Pro supports a 2224 x 1668 resolution while the 9.7-inch iPad Pro has a 2048 x 1536 resolution, with the same 264 pixels per inch for both displays. Having a wider screen, the 10.5-inch iPad Pro is able to support a full size onscreen keyboard.

The 10.5-inch iPad Pro weighs at 469 grams which is slightly heavier than the 9.7-inch iPad Pro at 437 grams.

The 10.5-inch iPad Pro is enabled with USB Power Delivery technology over the Lightning connector similar to the 12.9-inch iPad Pro. Unlike the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, the 10.5-inch iPad Pro is closer to the 9.7-inch iPad Pro in its support of 4K video @ 30 fps and slo-mo 720p video @ 240 fps (or 1080p video @ 120 fps).

Apart from having a similar design, both the 10.5-inch iPad Pro and 9.7-inch iPad Pro also support the same back camera, battery life, fingerprint scanner, headphone jack, Apple Pencil, Smart Connector, and speakers. The main difference is the Apple A10X Fusion chip used on the 10.5-inch iPad Pro which promises to deliver faster performance than the 9.7-inch iPad Pro's A9X chip. The 10.5-inch iPad Pro also offers higher storage capacity up to 512 GB as compared to the maximum 256 GB on the 9.7-inch iPad Pro

Like the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, the 10.5-inch iPad Pro also supports a 12 megapixel back camera similar to that found on the iPhone 7. The 10.5-inch iPad Pro on the other hand comes with a 7 megapixel front camera while the 9.7 inch version's front camera is only 5 megapixel.

Next we'll be doing a series of reviews to see how well the 10.5-inch iPad Pro works with other supported devices.
