Power charging is undoubtedly a key feature to allow the LG 4K 27UD88-W Monitor to charge the 13" MacBook Pro (Late 2016) when docked over the same cable.

Using the USB Power Delivery analysis software from Granite River Labs, we are able to observe the USB Power Delivery negotiation between the LG 4K 27UD88-W Monitor and the 13" MacBook Pro (Late 2016). In this case, we can confirm that the LG 4K 27UD88-W Monitor is correctly charging the 13" MacBook Pro (Late 2016).

Initially, we can see that the LG 4K 27UD88-W Monitor offers three power profiles of 10 watts (5 volts @ 2 amps), 36 watts (12 volts @ 3 amps) and 57 watts (19 volts @ 3 amps) to the 13" MacBook Pro (Late 2016).

The 13" MacBook Pro (Late 2016) then requests 57 watts (19 volts @ 3 amps) of power from the LG 4K 27UD88-W Monitor.

We can also see that the LG 4K 27UD88-W Monitor and the 13" MacBook Pro (Late 2016) support the DP Alt Mode during the USB Power Delivery negotiation.

By supporting USB Power Delivery, the LG 4K 27UD88-W Monitor is able to successfully pass through the USB Power Delivery negotiation sequence to charge the 13" MacBook Pro (Late 2016).
