Basis Peak- Intel’s Wearable Product Brand (Don’t Buy- Recall & Safety Issue)

Intel has recalled the Basis Peak and stopped selling it after this reported safety issue.

Basis is an interesting wearables brand that is actually owned by Intel, one of the world's largest semiconductor companies.  As part of Intel's expansion beyond it's traditional PC customers, Basis is a key part of its efforts into getting into the hot new wearables market.

One of the nice things with the Basis Peak is that it supports live heart rate monitoring without needing a separate chest band.  Only a few other wearable products the the Fitbit Charge HR and Garmin vivosmart HR supports this feature.

The Basis Peak box is similar to the Fitbit Charge HR's professional looking showcase display style box.

The Basis Peak comes with accessories like an alternative white wrist band strap as well as an accessory to connect to the back of the phone which you can then connect a USB cable to a PC or USB power charger.

With the Basis Peak, you can see fitness tracking data such as steps and heart rate monitoring.
