The HTC 10 phone comes with a Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 enabled charger but also supports USB Power Delivery charging. Let's see how USB Power Delivery works between the phone and a third party charger like the Anker PowerPort+ 5 USB-C (click here for Amazon pricing).

Note that Anker starts charging the HTC 10 with its battery at 41% full. The charger is observed to declare USB Power Delivery profiles of 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 27 watts (9 volts @ 3 amps), and 45 watts (15 volts @ 3 amps) over USB Type-C.

The HTC 10 follows up to request 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps) from the charger which it accepts.

The Anker PowerPort+ 5 USB-C not only shows several unexpected hard resets but also offers a fourth power profile of 45 watts (20 volts @ 2.25 amps) in addition to the 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 27 watts (9 volts @ 3 amps), and 45 watts (15 volts @ 3 amps) it initially declared. The HTC 10 instead still goes on to request 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps) which is also accepted by the charger.

While the HTC 10 is being charged on a 41% full battery, it takes nearly 10 seconds for the Anker PowerPort+ 5 USB-C to finally charge the phone at 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps) given the constant hard resets.
