One of the newer charger products by Portway Technologies is the 60W USB-C PD and QC4+ Charger with dual USB Type-C ports for charging two USB-C devices simultaneously. The Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ based port on the Portway charger can be used to provide 45W charging for notebook PC's or tablets via USB Power Delivery 3.0 and Programmable Power Supply (PPS). The other USB Type-C port can be used to supply up to 15W power to charge most phones.

By connecting the Apple 12.9-inch iPad Pro on a 3% charged battery to the Portway Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ based port, we observed charging over USB Power Delivery which took about 176 minutes to complete. From first plugin, the Portway charger delivered around 30 watts (15 volts @ 2 amps) of steady state charging to the iPad Pro. After 45 minutes later, the current pulled began to decrease gradually which also saw a quick 20-30W power band being drawn in between. Once the battery has charged for about 143 minutes, the power charging reduced resulting in the voltage level to decrease to 5 volts for charging to drop to about 2.5 watts. The current later went up close to 2.5 amps before it eventually dropped down to settle at below 0.1 amps as the battery filled up. Click here to download the trace captured by the GRL-A1 power analyzer to see more details on the entire power charging cycle.

Note a Apple USB-C to Lightning Cable was used to connect the iPad Pro and Portway charger for charging.

By supplying around 30W charging, the Portway 60W USB-C PD and QC4+ Charger allows larger iPad Pro models like the Apple 12.9-inch iPad Pro to charge faster through USB Power Delivery than using the Apple 12W based charger that ships with the iPad's.
