While the 13" MacBook Pro (Late 2016) charges fine with the Anker PowerPort+ 5 USB-C (click here for Amazon pricing) over USB Power Delivery as previously tested, the same charger will also charge the Apple 15" MacBook Pro (Late 2016).

This charging activity can be observed using the software from Granite River Labs which captures the USB Power Delivery Protocol transactions.

The Anker PowerPort+ 5 USB-C's power profiles are displayed as 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 27 watts (9 volts @ 3 amps) and 45 watts (15 volts @ 3 amps) over the USB Type-C connector.

The Apple 15" MacBook Pro (Late 2016) then requests 45 watts (15 volts @ 3 amps) from the Anker PowerPort+ 5 USB-C.

Using an oscilloscope, we measure that the Anker PowerPort+ 5 USB-C delivers about 15 volts @ .7 amps to the Apple 15" MacBook Pro (Late 2016) while fully charged.

The Anker PowerPort+ 5 USB-C works with the Apple 15" MacBook Pro (Late 2016) using USB Power Delivery but can only delivery up to 45 watts, meaning it will charge slower compared to using the Mac's own Apple 87W USB-C Power Adapter.
