While NFC technology is now available on a lot of flagship phones like the Apple iPhone 7 to enable mobile payments, some phone brands like Sony and Samsung also use NFC to facilitate pairing with Bluetooth headphones like the Sony MDR-XB950BT Extra Bass Bluetooth Headphones.

Here we verified that the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, when placed on the NFC Forum's N-Mark logo of the right earpiece of the Sony MDR-XB950BT Extra Bass Bluetooth Headphones, is able to pair automatically using Bluetooth.

You need to first make sure that on the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, both NFC and Bluetooth are turned on.  Once you touch the phone to the right earpiece's outer shell of the Sony MDR-XB950BT Extra Bass Bluetooth Headphones, is able to pair automatically using Bluetooth.

We could also confirm that the Sony MDR-XB950BT Extra Bass Bluetooth Headphones was a selectable audio output on the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and music streaming over Bluetooth worked well.

However, when we tried to repeat the same NFC based pairing process with the Google Pixel phone (which also claims NFC support for Android Pay and Android Beam), there was no recognition of the Sony MDR-XB950BT Extra Bass Bluetooth Headphones over NFC and automatic pairing with Bluetooth.
