USB hubs like the Plugable USB-C 3-Port Hub with Pass-Through Charging usually help in cleaning up any signal integrity and USB connection issues between a USB host and a peripheral.  However, this time when we connected the Seagate Seven Portable Drive through the Plugable USB-C 3-Port Hub with Pass-Through Charging to connect to the Apple MacBook (Early 2016), we could clearly see the Seagate Seven Portable Drive was having problems trying to connect to the MacBook.

The MacBook screenshots below show the Seagate Seven Portable Drive not showing up in System Information.

After several refreshes, the Seagate Seven Portable Drive briefly shows up in System Information...

...but then disappears again...

...and then comes back as a USB Device.

All in all the Seagate Seven Portable Drive could not be used through the Plugable USB-C 3-Port Hub with Pass-Through Charging with the Apple MacBook (Early 2016).

However, once we replace the Plugable USB-C 3-Port Hub with Pass-Through Charging with Apple's own USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter, we don't see any issue with the Seagate Seven Portable Drive connecting correctly to the Apple MacBook (Early 2016).
