The Garmin vivosmart HR is Garmin's response to the Fitbit Charge HR, and works well with the iPhone 6s.  To connect the vivosmart HR to the iPhone, go to the Apple App Store to find and download Garmin Connect Mobile.

Once you Open the App, you will be asked to accept the App sending notifications and accessing your Contacts.

You will also need to sign in or create a new Garmin account as well as accept the EULA licensing agreement.

After signing in with your Garmin account, select Yes when asked if you have a Garmin device to connect.

In the Select Device top menu, select vivo and in the next screen select vivosmart HR.

You will need to update some information about yourself before you can start the Bluetooth pairing procedure.  Select Start for the App to look for your Garmin.

On the vivosmart HR, press the main button to open Settings, and then swipe until you see the Bluetooth symbol.  Select the symbol and make sure it says Bluetooth Waiting for App.  Swipe again and select Pair Smartphone.

Unfortunately the Garmin App can't find the vivosmart HR despite multiple attempts.  Once in a while, the vivosmart HR will be found but after a long attempt to connect, the App will report that Pairing Failed and ask you to retry again.

To debug what's going on, restart the vivosmart HR and iPhone 6S and make sure no other devices were connected to them over Bluetooth.  It turned out that a iPhone 6 had been connected to the vivosmart HR and was blocking the pairing process.  Once the iPhone 6 was turned off, I could continue pairing the vivosmart HR with the iPhone 6s.

After selecting Retry in the Pairing Failed screen, this time the Garmin App immediately found the vivosmart HR.  Select Use vivosmart HR- note that two phones can't be connected to the vivosmart HR at the same time and only the iPhone 6s will be used to sync data from the Garmin.  Once Pairing is complete, select Done.

After you the pairing process is done, you can further customize by selecting wrist the vivosmart HR will be worn on and the screen orientation and then selecting Save.  The App will then bring you to the Snapshot Wizard where you can select and organize which activities you want to track with your Garmin.

Once the setup process is complete, you can explore the various fitness stats tracking screens like Steps, Sleep, etc.

Beyond the iPhone 6s, the Garmin vivosmart HR has done a good job in making sure it works well with various mobile devices.
