Most Apple iPads come with a Apple 12W USB Power Adapter  (5.1 volts @ 2.1 amps) but will that charge your iPhone 6s faster than the Apple 5W USB Power Adapter (5 volts @ 1 amps) that comes with the iPhone?

We found that using the Apple 12W USB Power Adapter, the iPhone 6s charges fully in about 100 minutes compared to 145 minutes when using the Apple 5W USB Power Adapter.

Looking at the charging voltage and current between the iPhone 6s and the Apple 12W USB Power Adapter, we see a little different behavior than what we saw when using the same Apple 12W USB Power Adapter with the iPhone 7 as seen in this review.

While the voltage stays around 5 volts, the current stays at 1 amps and after about 40 minutes, drops down to .76 amps.  After about 65 minutes from the start of charging, the current drops to .6 amps.  Finally after about 85 minutes from the start of charging, the current falls steadily to .36 amps.

It takes less than 100 minutes to fully charge with power starting at 5 watts and then falling all the way down to 1.8 watts when the battery is near 100% full.
