What happens if you use the Innergie PowerGear USB-C 45 to charge the Microsoft Lumia 950?
To see what's going on with USB Power Delivery between the Innergie PowerGear USB-C 45 and the Microsoft Lumia 950, we used software from Granite River Labs to capture the USB Power Delivery Protocol transactions.
The Innergie PowerGear USB-C 45 advertises that it can supports 4 different power profiles: 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 36 watts (12 volts @ 3 amps), 45 watts (15 volts @ 3 amps), and 45 watts (20 volts @ 2.25 amps) over the USB Type-C connector.
The Microsoft Lumia 950 requests only 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps) of charging from the Innergie PowerGear USB-C 45.
Actual current pulled by the Microsoft Lumia 950 from the Innergie PowerGear USB-C 45 was about 2.8 amps with the Microsoft Lumia 950 being well charged.
The Microsoft Lumia 950 takes less than 3 hours to charge completely while the phone is powered on with the Innergie PowerGear USB-C 45 power adaptor.
