The Huawei P9 comes equipped with a USB Type-C connector that doesn't support quick charging over USB Power Delivery. Let's see how the phone charges with a USB Power Delivery enabled charger like the GoPro Supercharger over the USB Type-C port even though no USB Power Delivery negotiation occurs.

While the GoPro Supercharger charges the Huawei P9 with the phone's battery being fully depleted, we can see that the phone pulls around 10 watts (5 volts @ 2 amps) from the charger even though the GoPro Supercharger is constantly advertising its USB Power Delivery source capabilities. 

As charging goes on, the current is observed to fall steadily to about 0.2 amps as the battery gets fully charged.

Even though no USB Power Delivery contract is completed, the GoPro Supercharger can still charge USB Type-C phones like the Huawei P9, and starts charging at the maximum 10 watts power that the phone can draw.
