The Apple 29W USB-C Power Adapter was originally released to support charging for the Apple MacBook (Early 2015) using USB Power Delivery technology.  Fortunately, it can be also used to charge certain Window PC's like the Dell XPS 15 9550 Laptop.  Let's see how well the Apple 29W USB-C Power Adapter works with the Dell XPS 15 9550 Laptop.

Using Granite River Labs USB Power Delivery test software, we can see that the Apple 29W USB-C Power Adapter supports 29.6 Watts (14.8 Volts at 2 Amps) and 12 Watts (5 Volts at 2.4 Amps).power profiles. 

The Dell XPS 15 9550 Laptop then requests 5 volts @ .9 amps from the Apple 29W USB-C Power Adapter which isn't really enough to power the computer.
