You can use the dodocool 30W USB Type-C PD Charger to charge the Moto Z Droid since the phone supports USB Power Delivery technology.  Earlier we have seen that the Moto Z Droid request 15 watts (5 volts@ 3 amps) from the dodocool 30W USB Type-C PD Charger in this review so we wanted to see if the behavior changed with a new dodocool 30W USB Type-C PD Charger that we purchased and new software upgrades on the Moto Z Droid.

Using Granite River Labs USB Power Delivery test software, first we can see that the dodocool 30W USB Type-C PD Charger offers 3 PDO's: 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 27 watts (9 volts @ 3 amps), and 30 watts (15 volts @ 2A).

The Moto Z Droid initially requests 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps) from the dodocool 30W USB Type-C PD Charger.

Later the dodocool 30W USB Type-C PD Charger offers 4 PDOs: 15 watts (5 volts @ 3 amps), 27 watts (9 volts @ 3 amps), 30 watts (15 volts @  2A) and 30 watts (20 volts @ 1.5 amps).

Then the Moto Z Droid requests PDO(2): 27 watts (9 volts @ 3 amps) from the dodocool 30W USB Type-C PD Charger

Again the Moto Z Droid requests 27 watts (9 volts @ 3 amps) from the dodocool 30W USB Type-C PD Charger. This is one of the highest power levels that we've seen being requested by a phone using USB Power Delivery.

However, the actual current pulled by the Moto Z Droid from the dodocool 30W USB Type-C PD Charger is only about 1.8 amps which is about 16 watts @ 9 volts.

With 27 watts of charging available initially, we see that the Moto Z Droid takes about 30 minutes to charge the battery by 50%, and takes 85 minutes to fully charge (note the power used when the battery closer to full is a lot lower and thus charging becomes a lot slower).

The USB Power Delivery behavior has definitely changed from our earlier review between these 2 products.

Below screenshot shows the software and configuration versions, while testing the Moto Z Droid with the dodocool 30W USB Type-C PD Charger.  We had purchased another dodocool 30W USB Type-C PD Charger so it's possible something may have changed in the charger or new software was updated on the Moto Z Droid.
