The Best 4K Smart TV Deal of 2015 (so far)

Looking to dip your toe into 4K but worried that high price of the 4K TV's can be justified due to lack of 4K content.  There are cheap 4K TV's out there but they lack a lot of smart TV functionality and come from relatively unknown brands.  The best deal I found for a $500+ 4K Smart TV was in Fry's Electronics where unlike Amazon, they also pay the sales tax on select models like the LG UF6000 43-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV (2015 Model). Fry's Electronics is a veritable institution out in California, having started in Silicon Valley and has survived all the economies ups and downs to become Best Buy's remaining big competitor in the region.  Unlike Best Buy, Fry's keeps to its grocery retailer roots including a wide selection of snacks, children's toys, books, electronics components, and other items you generally don't see in Best Buy. Most of Fry's Electronics insides have some destination theme and the one inside Fremont California has a lot of demo's related to electricity and a statue of Tesla.  Compared to Best Buy's polished premium brand name feel where you feel like you are hopping between mini-stores of Samsung, Apple, Sony, etc., Fry's Electronics keeps a very traditional layout and focuses more on price discounts and less on looks. Even many of the demo's are in sad shape and haven't been working for a while. The one exception is probably the TV area where you do see large displays like this one for LG's OLED 4K TV's. The LG UF6400 43-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV box is pretty standard and comes with the TV Stand, AC power wire, and remote control.    The remote control, unlike other Smart TV's, isn't cluttered with different Apps from Amazon, NetFlix, etc. Another unique thing about LG's approach to Smart TV is that is uses WebOS which has its roots in Palm, for those of you that remember the pre-smart phone PDA days.  WebOS is one of the most polished smart TV operating systems and strikes a better balance between functionality and easy of use compared to operating systems found on other Smart TV's. Starting up the LG 4K Smart TV is a breeze and full of eye pleasing graphics.   Like other smart TV's, the LG 4K Smart TV comes with the most popular apps like Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, YouTube, etc., but also has its own content and App Store. Even better, despite the low price, the LG UF6000 43-Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart LED TV (2015 Model) has lots of connectivity options to work with various other devices including 2 HDMI 2.0 ports needed for 4K@60Hz.  Vizio has a similar priced TV but doesn't have the same polished look and feel and only supports 1 HDMI 2.0 port which has problems working with the Sony 4K Media Player, the only commercially available true 4K movie source sold in 2015.  LG doesn't have this problem with this Sony Media Player.  With LG's webOS 2.0, you get a more smart TV functionality than what Vizio offers that is much easier to use for the average consumer vs Android TV. Fry's Electronics definitely has the best deals on 4K TV's if you know what you are looking for.  Don't expect a lot of technical help from their sales people.  Also, check ahead of time if they will pay the sales tax for your 4K TV model.  If prices happen to be higher than Amazon, you can price match at Fry's. The LG UF6000 is a great buy for a well designed product if you want to try the world of 4K and smart TV's but not willing to spend the big bucks until more 4K content is available.  If you want more accurate color and a USB 3.0 port, LG also offers the UB8000/UB9000 Prime 4K series.  For those really willing to splurge and are , LG also offers the new UF9000/UG9000 OLED 4K series which promotes the pure black backgrounds that you used to get with now defunct plasma TV's like the Pioneer Elite Kuro.
